Online Consultation and Examination

During the recent pandemic, we witnessed the widespread adoption of online video consultations. This approach proved to be quite effective, especially in fields like psychiatry, internal medicine, and dermatology. However, in the field of pulmonology, a comprehensive assessment that includes a physical lung examination performed by the physician, pulmonary function tests, and imaging studies such as chest X-rays or CT scans is essential. Therefore, I personally do not consider online consultations or remote evaluations to be entirely appropriate for this specialty. Meeting with my patients face-to-face is my top priority.

That said, we do offer an online consultation system for patients who live outside the city, have difficulty bringing their loved ones in for an appointment, or wish to receive a second opinion based on their existing test results. In this system, a time slot is set aside during the day for a video consultation, with the goal of answering questions from patients residing in other cities or abroad. However, it is essential that the patient has all relevant test results available during this consultation. While this method cannot replace an in-person examination, it is a useful option for patients who have no other means of accessing care. As this time slot is exclusively reserved for the consultation and no other patients are seen during this period, it is subject to a fee, as is standard in all other medical specialties.
